LSU WBB: The Latest on All-American Forward Angel Reese

The absence of LSU All-American forward Angel Reese from Friday's game versus Southeastern has sparked discussion in recent days. As the Tigers prepare for a Monday night game against Texas Southern, Reese appears to be out again.

After beating Southeastern 73-50 on Friday, Kim Mulkey addressed All-American forward Angel Reese's status. Last Tuesday, reigning National Champion Reese was benched in the second half against Kent State and missed Friday's game in Hammond.

Mulkey explained her Friday night decision: I didn't see Angel in uniform. Angel plays basketball for this team, and we hope she returns soon. I won't respond further.

Mulkey "cleared the air" about her star big after missing Friday night's Hammond battle.

Reese has been in the spotlight for months after winning the National Championship. After the Tigers won, Reese's off-court status improved.

“She just understands the spotlight is on her,” Mulkey told Taylor Rooks before the Colorado game. She probably didn't know how fast and hard it hit her.

I tell her that to whoever much is given, much is required. You merited this. You wanted this, so grow up and lead us, and she wants to improve her game. She wants to improve her leadership.

All signs point to Reese not joining the Tigers for their Thanksgiving break tournament in the Cayman Islands this week.

The Tigers will play Niagara in the Cayman Island Classic on Friday, Nov. 24 and Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 25.

Following the trip, LSU is off until their Nov. 30 Final Four rematch with Virginia Tech. All signs lead to a return versus the Hokies, but that might change.
